Year 5
We have two classes - Amethyst and Tanzanite
Our class teachers are Mrs Prendiville, Mrs Bellman and Mrs Fawkes.
Our Learning Support Assistants are Mrs Voules, Mrs Hansra and Mrs Watts.
In Year 5, learning is an adventure where children will have opportunities to explore further and learn through hands on experiences. The children will develop positive attitudes towards their learning and show a thirst for all things new. Year 5 is an exciting journey, helping all to fully embrace the challenges that lie in front of them. The skills the children learn are aimed to prepare them for the future.
Our main aims in Year 5 are:
- To increase children’s independence and growth mindset
- To help children to have accountability for their learning
- To value each other and show respect to everyone
- To be a team who celebrate success and achievement
- To endeavour to make each learning experience one to remember, where learning is an adventure
Our main topics that the children learn about over the year are: ‘The Battle of Hastings', 'The Kingdom of Benin', ‘The Americas ' and 'The Tudors'. History, geography and science skills are developed through these topics.
The children in Year 5 are learning how to be independent learners. As the year progresses, they are expected to take on more responsibility within the school community.
We hope that all Year 5 children will enjoy the year, always striving to be the best they can be so that they are ready for their transition to Year 6 and the added responsibilities which come with this.
If you have any questions throughout the year, then please do not hesitate to ask!
