Year 4
We have two classes - Emerald and Malachite
Our teachers are Mrs Jones and Mrs Khan
Our Learning Support Assistants are Mrs Armstrong, Mrs Fry and Mrs Vaessen
Year 4 is a very exciting year as children enter the Upper Phase. Building on the curiosity and enthusiasm developed in the Lower Phase, we provide children with the skills and mind-set to become independent inquisitive learners, enabling them to succeed as they move through the Upper Phase and beyond.
Our main aims in Year 4 are:
- To increase children’s self- confidence and resilience
- To help children to develop organisational skills
- To teach children how to be articulate when expressing opinions and ideas
Our three main topics that the children learn about over the year are: ‘Romans, Greeks and Us’, ‘Incredible India’ and ‘The Anglo Saxons’. History and Geography skills are developed through these topics. Every topic starts with an exciting ‘big bang’ event, using the five senses. These may include things such as: exploring cultural food, ways of life, music, dance and drama, as well as art and technology.
PE lessons will take place on Tuesday and Friday afternoons. Please ensure that your child has warm clothing to wear for their outdoor session.
If you have any questions throughout the year, then please do not hesitate to ask!
