Year 6
We have two classes - Opal and Topaz
Our Teachers are Miss Robertson and Mrs Spiller.
Our Learning Support Assistants are Miss Holmwood, Miss Watkins, and Miss Firman.
Our main aims in Year 6 are:
- For children to be proactive and inquisitive learners
- For children to take on roles of responsibility, act as positive role models and lead by example
- To prepare children for SATs by developing their confidence and self-belief
- To develop greater independence in preparation for a successful transition to Secondary School
The three main topics that the children learn about over the year are The Victorians, World War 2 and Post-War Britain. Within these topics, there are opportunities for research, design, debate and drama.
In Maths, we will have daily arithmetic challenges in class. However, the children still need to continue to learn their times tables to 12, off by heart. We also set a variety of homework topic projects to complete throughout the year.
PE lessons take place on Tuesday and Friday afternoons. Please make sure that your child wears their PE kit to school on these days and ensure that your child has warm clothing to wear for their outdoor session.
If you have any questions throughout the year, then please do not hesitate to ask!
