Notice Board
Autumn Term 2017 (second half)

Welcome Back!

We hope you all had a good half term and the children enjoyed some much needed rest.

We are all geared up for another fun packed, busy half term! This week we took the children to Dinton Pastures Country Park, so they could wear the capes they made.  What a great start to the term! The morning was so much fun! The children put into practice their super hero rules they had written in English and were, being brave, using their powers in good way and saving innocent victims!  We captured lots of photographs and the children were delighted that Superman made an appearance!

This term our topic is ‘Paws & Claws’. In English we will learning to write simple rhyming poems based on the book Oi Frog! By Jim Field. Following this we will be teaching the children some facts about basic needs of small animals. We hope to have some little friends into school so the children can get some hands on experiences too. The children will then be creating their own instructions on how to care for an animal. This links nicely with our Science curriculum where the children are required to identify, describe and compare a variety of common animals and whether they are carnivores, herbivores or omnivores.

In Maths this term we will be revisiting previous learning and introducing subtraction, money, time and 3D shapes. In addition to this we will be making preparations for the Christmas Performance and making Christmas crafts

It’s going to be a busy term!

As always, we are here, should you require any more information.

Kind Regards,

The Year 1 Team
