Summer Term 2018 – Second Half

Year 1 News!

We hope you’ve had a great half term and are ready for another fun packed term.

This half term is already shaping up to be a busy one. We have got our map day, trip to Lego land, sports day and health week all to look forward to!

This half term our topic is anything and everything to do with lego ‘Everything is Awesome!’. We will be looking at the artist Mondrian to inspire our own pieces of art and using lego to create some art work.

In English, we will be creating a comic strip based on Emmet’s morning routine and a diary about Emmet’s day.

As our topic is all about lego we will be using lots of practical resources to build and make. We will be looking at different materials in Science.

In Maths, we will be consolidating children’s previous learning by revisiting topics previously taught particularly addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Show and Tell will also run on a Friday. Please bring in something connected to our learning or something you have made/achieved outside school.

Here’s to a busy and exciting term ahead!

Please don’t hesitate to ask any one of the team if you have any questions.

Kind Regards,

The Year 1 Team

Year 1 Homework

Spelling and Maths homework will be issued after October half term. In the meanwhile, please read with your child at least three times a week. It is important that you sign in your child’s reading record every time you hear them read, in order for the books to be changed.
