Notice Board
21st January
We are continuing to use our fantastic book called, ‘Inside the Villains’ to explore ‘baddies’ in fairy tales.  This week the focus will be on the witch. We will then be finishing the week by writing our opinions on who is the worst villain and why.
We will be reminding the children how to use the grid method for solving multiplication questions and chunking along a number line to solve division problems. We will then finish the week by problem solving using these skills.
Our topic links with our English work and is focusing on the science concepts of Light and Dark. We will be continuing to investigate light in science, as well as exploring texture in art.
At the moment, homework will be a piece of English work and a maths task.  Mrs Spiller is reviewing Buzz Time and it will return soon!

Welcome to Year 3!

We have two classes called Ruby and Carnelian. The teachers are Miss Smith, Mrs Spiller, and Mrs Swinyard. Mrs Atkins  will be doing PPA cover for Tuesdays with Ruby class. Also working in the classes as Learning Support Assistants are Mrs Boman, Mrs Currie and Mrs Robbins.

Click below for the link to our curriculum map. Each term will start with a ‘Big Bang’ to excite the children for the learning to come and will end with a celebration of their achievements. This may be sharing work with another year group, a celebration class assembly or a special event.

The children will be shown how to change their own reading books and they can change their books on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays break times and lunchtimes.

Each class will have two PE sessions a week which will be on Tuesdays and Fridays. One of these sessions will be outside so your child will need trainers and warm clothing such as a track suit.

Homework will be given on a Friday each week and needs to be returned on Thursdays, unless there is a change to the timetable. Your child will receive a spelling sheet where they will explore a given spelling pattern or spelling rule. Maths homework will continue to be practising their maths skills ready for their ‘Buzz Time’ challenge every Thursday. They will be challenged on number bonds and times tables skills. This will be differentiated for each child dependent on their skill level.

‘Buzz Time’ challenge every Thursday. They will be challenged on number bonds and times tables.
