Notice Board

Spring Term 2 Half Term to Easter

The children will be looking Folk Tales for the next three weeks. The key text is based upon the ‘Lava’ Disney clip. We will be using be using a clip from the literacy shed to help the children write their own versions of a folk tale.

We will then be moving onto writing a non-chronological report linking to our plants topic in Science. For their hot task the children will be writing a non-chronological report about unusual plants.

In Maths, children will be looking at fractions for the first two weeks of this term. They will be finding fractions of numbers, ordering fractions and finding equivalent fractions. We will move on to problem solving using this knowledge.  We shall also be revisiting the key Math’s methods for Year 3 regarding addition, subtraction, multiplication and division over the term.

Other topics

We shall be continuing our work on The Active Planet. We are moving onto looking at plants in Science and will be linking this with Art by creating a sketchbook full of ideas and artwork. We shall be organizing a trip to Dinton that will not only help us to identify and name a range of plants but provide inspiration for our sketchbooks. Details of this trip will be forwarded to you once the trip in confirmed.

Half Term Project

Just a reminder that this should be an on-going project. Dates for being handed in will be sent out but won’t be until the end of the term to allow the plant to grow.

The children will be shown how to change their own reading books and they can change their books on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays break times and lunchtimes.
