Notice Board
19th June

A massive well done to all of the children for such a fantastic healthy week. The children really impressed us with their determination to complete Mr Casella’s running challenge and they were in great spirits on sports day. We were very proud of them.

This week, the children will be finding out more about Stonehenge and debating why it was built. By the end of the week, they will write a discussion text about the theories surrounding its purpose.

The children will be learning Roman numerals to 12 and they will recapping how to tell the time using digital 12 and 24 hour clocks.

In the afternoons this week, we will be practising for our Year 3 celebration assembly. Please join us on Friday morning (23rd June) from 9:15, in the school hall, to celebrate what a fantastic time we have had in Year 3!

Thank you for your support.

Welcome to Year 3!

We have two classes called Ruby and Carnelian. The teachers are Miss Home, Mrs Spiller and Mrs Carvill. Also working in the classes as Learning Support Assistants are Mrs Boman and Mrs Currie.

Click below for the link to our curriculum map. Each term will start with a ‘Big Bang’ to excite the children for the learning to come and will end with a celebration of their achievements. This may be sharing work with another year group, a celebration class assembly or a special event.

The children have been shown how to change their own reading books and they can change their books on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Each class will have two PE sessions a week which will be on Tuesdays and Fridays. One of these sessions will be outside so your child will need trainers and warm clothing such as a track suit.

Homework will be given on a Friday each week and needs to be returned on Thursdays, unless there is a change to the timetable. Your child will receive a spelling sheet where they will explore a given spelling pattern. Click below for the Year 3 spelling explanation.

To help the children practise their maths skills they will take part in the ‘Buzz Time’ challenge every Thursday. They will be challenged on number bonds and times tables.
