Welcome to Year 6
We have two classes - Opal and Topaz
Our Teachers are Mrs Bellman and Miss Hazeltine.
Our Learning Support Assistants are Miss Holmwood and Miss Watkins.
Our main aims in Year 6 are:
- For children to be proactive and inquisitive learners
- For children to take on roles of responsibility, act as positive role models and lead by example
- To prepare children for SATs by developing their confidence and self-belief
- To develop greater independence in preparation for a successful transition to Secondary School
The three main topics that the children learn about over the year are North America, The Victorians and The Tudors/Shakespeare. Within these topics, there are opportunities for research, design, debate and drama.
Instead of Buzz Time we will have daily arithmetic challenges in class. However the children still need to continue to learn their times tables to 12, off by heart. We also set a variety of topic projects to complete throughout the year.
PE lessons take place on Thursday and Friday afternoons, so please make sure that your child has a named PE kit in school on these days. Please ensure that your child has warm clothing to wear for their outdoor session.
If you have any questions throughout the year, then please do not hesitate to ask!
